Meet The Women Whose Parents Paid For College Just So They Could Be On The Bachelor

In an interview with Yahoo! TV Tuesday, Bachelor host Chris Harrison dished that Joelle “JoJo” Fletcher, 24, is one of his top picks to put her college degree to work hot-tubbing with the fan favorite from Kaitlyn’s season, bachelor Ben Higgins. “She is a little spitfire from Dallas,” says Harrison of JoJo, who in 2011 graduated from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) degree. “She is a real estate developer and a free spirit, but recently went through a breakup,” continues Harrison, explaining that the woman whose parents spent nearly $40,000 per year to send her to a private college has some emotional walls up that could interfere with her ability to make Ben pick her over the 24 other women he is also dating for a TV show. Here’s hoping JoJo is able to open up to Ben on camera so that her family gets a good return on investment!

Diehard Bachelor fans will recognize that Becca Tilley’s parents probably had to pack their lunch every day for 18 years so that Becca, 26, could go to Louisiana Tech University and become a repeat Bachelor contestant. Parents always hope that things turn out for their kids, but it must really be gratifying to see that all those years of care and worry actually resulted in Becca accomplishing not one, but two 10-week stints on the TV show where ladies cry if the man doesn’t give them a rose like he gave all the other ladies roses. Sure, the Tilleys would have still loved Becca if she hadn’t made it past Chris Soules’ season, but seeing her come back to the Bachelor mansion for Ben’s season must have them just bursting with pride. This is what they planned for. This is what they hoped.

Then there’s Samantha, 26, a sweet and sassy blond whose parents can now say that, even though they never got to take that trip to Paris, their daughter was able to attend law school, and that she graduated in the top 20 percent of her class before suspending her career to spend two and a half months in a bikini, desperately vying for the opportunity to be one of the girls who gets to make out with Ben in the hot tub in front of millions of viewers.

Yep, you read that right! Emily and Haley Ferguson, 22, are identical twins whose parents paid double the tuition to send them to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and then on to becoming a walking sex joke on The Bachelor! The Ferguson parents must have spent a lot of sleepless nights wondering how they could possibly afford to pay for both Emily and Haley to get degrees in elementary education—but then, there’s nothing a parent won’t do so that their child can someday go on TV and have her occupation listed as “twin.”

College isn’t the only place to learn, and we’re sure that the love and tireless care Jubilee Sharpe received from her hardworking family made her into the woman she is today: an Iraq war veteran who will be putting her unparalleled training to use fighting the good fight against all those phony tramps who came on The Bachelor for the wrong reasons. Thank you for your service, Jubilee—and thank you to all those military families out there whose brave daughters and sons put themselves on the line, only to be sent home in the very first episode. We salute you.
